How Can We Help?
The Psychological First Aid Field Operations Guide 2nd Edition was developed as a joint project between the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the National Center for PTSD. It provides clinicians tools for working with children and adults in the immediate aftermath of disaster and terrorism as a means of reducing the initial distress and help build short and long term coping abilities. This manual gives guidance on responding to disaster or terrorism events using the Psychological First Aid intervention. This evidence-informed approach helps to assist children, adolescents, adults, and families in the aftermath of disaster and terrorism and includes in-depth information about each of the eight core actions and accompanying handouts for adults, adolescents, parents and caregivers, and providers.
