ACES

Preventing ACEs Tier 3 is designed to explore the prevention of ACEs with a specific focus on the strategies and approaches recommended by the Division of Violence Prevention at the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). With the understanding that preventing ACEs is a priority for the CDC, learners will examine evidence-based interventions aimed at reducing immediate and long-term harms associated with ACEs.

Compassion Fatigue

Compassion Fatigue Prevention Tier 3 offers an in-depth exploration of the signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue, along with practical techniques to prevent and address its impact. Learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of compassion fatigue, which manifests as emotional exhaustion, decreased empathy, and a sense of overwhelm among individuals in helping professions. This presentation will provide evidence-based strategies for self-care, boundary-setting, and building resilience as preventive measures against compassion fatigue.

Crisis NOW/Crisis Response System

Crisis System Impact Tier 3 explores the impact of crisis response systems and focuses specifically on the Nevada crisis response system, while striving to align it with the ideal crisis system framework. Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of the various components of a crisis response system and their effects on individuals in crisis. learners review the ideal crisis system model, which prioritizes accessibility, coordination, and effectiveness of crisis services.

Cultural Considerations

Health Disparities and Prevention Tier 3 offers an in-depth exploration of the growing health disparities among specific population groups, examining the social determinants of health and barriers to accessing quality healthcare – including socioeconomic, cultural, and systemic factors. The learner will also focus on strategies for inclusive prevention approaches, equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills to engage and empower diverse communities.

Self-Care

Self-Care in Context Awareness of self-care context can help to identify potential barriers to self-care, including lack of knowledge, resources, or social support. Tier 3 explores concepts of social reinforcement and the role social networks and supports play in promoting self-care behaviors. Learners grow to understand the self-care context and leveraging social reinforcement can improve their ability to practice self-care and maintain their health and wellbeing.

Suicide Prevention

Identify Suicide Prevention Tier 3 focuses on identifying suicide risks through the utilization of assessment tools such as the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), ASQ, SAFE-T and PHQ-9. Learners will grasp how to effectively administer and interpret these assessment tools to evaluate the severity of suicidal ideation and behavior. Additionally, learners will be introduced to the Zero Suicide framework, with a specific focus on the “Identify” component, which emphasizes the importance of systematic suicide risk identification and intervention.

Trauma

Trauma and Grief Responses Tier 3 offers a comprehensive exploration of grief experiences across the lifespan, providing learners with a deep understanding of how individuals of all ages cope with loss and navigate the grieving process. Learners discuss the unique challenges and needs associated with childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and older adulthood grief, considering factors such as developmental milestones, cognitive abilities, social contexts, and cultural influences.
