Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator is an individual trained in NAMI practices and procedures, who is responsible for maintaining NAMI Northern Nevada program policies and procedures, coordinating and executing NAMI programs and Education Courses as well as the Youth Peer Recovery Support Specialist Internship. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the development, coordination, staffing and implementation of NAMI programs, trainings, and membership management. The Program Coordinator shall also assist the Executive Director with community outreach, program development, and other administrative tasks as required.

Substance Abuse Counselors perform professional duties in areas of screening, assessment, case management, education, and treatment of clients and perform related administrative duties and recordkeeping in accordance with the standards and requirements of the Nevada Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Counselors.

Incumbents perform initial intake of clients; review personal history file and court documents; conduct interviews and explain counseling programs; gather information and evaluate personality traits; evaluate the extent of drug and alcohol addiction. Conduct individualized and group counseling sessions; determine goals and time tables for treatment; discuss progress with clients; document behavior and attitude in relation to treatment goals and objectives. Plan, develop, organize and conduct alcohol and drug abuse classes; provide in-service training to institutional staff. Prepare statistical documentation showing the number of clients assigned to substance abuse programs; compile, classify and store data for future research and analysis.

This position is located at Southern Desert Correctional Center (SDCC), in Indian Springs, Nevada.

Substance Abuse Counselors perform professional duties in areas of screening, assessment, case management, education, and treatment of clients, and perform related administrative duties and recordkeeping in accordance with the standards and requirements of the Nevada Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Counselors.

Incumbents perform professional duties in the assessment, case management, education, and treatment of inmates. Duties include: performing initial intake of inmates; conducting individualized and group counseling sessions; planning, developing, and conducting alcohol and drug cessation classes; providing instruction in areas of stress management, values clarification, self-esteem, career guidance, and other related areas. The incumbent will utilize video aides, role playing, group discussions, written exercises, testing, and homework assignments; and will meet with inmates individually as clinically indicated by the inmate’s progress or treatment issues. The incumbent will write concise, logical, analytical reports assessing the progress of individuals enrolled in the program and make oral group presentations during group counseling.
