Why Aren’t the Abusers Held More Accountable:
Flipping the Script on “Why Doesn’t the Victim Just Leave?”

Thursday, November 18th, 2021 | 1:00pm-2:30pm EST

In this webinar, presenters will challenge the infamously common question, “why doesn’t the victim just leave?”, share the consequences and impact of focusing on the victim’s actions instead of the abuser’s tactics, and discuss how we as activists and advocates can shift our language and actions to better hold abusers accountable for the harm they cause, further empower victims and survivors of violence, and influence social change.
Join panelists Ruth M. Glenn (President/CEO, NCADV), Victoria Reaves (Program Specialist, Ujima, Inc.: the National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community), and April Jimerson (Director of Training, The National Domestic Violence Hotline) as they share their perspectives and experience with working with survivors of violence to answer a series of questions on this topic.
