Training Overview
Join the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCEDSV) for a virtual training. This presentation will give attendees a basic understanding of disabilities and how adolescents and young adults with developmental disabilities are targeted for abuse. Intervention and prevention strategies will be discussed to ensure that survivors with developmental disabilities are receiving survivor-centered, trauma-informed assistance from domestic and sexual violence advocacy programs. Staff from disability service organizations and other participants will receive a basic understanding of relationship abuse effecting people with developmental disabilities, its warning signs and risk factors, strategies on how to help survivors and how to offer appropriate referrals to community-based domestic and sexual violence advocacy programs.

This introductory level training will be presented virtually on multiple dates: June 30, July 14, and August 12.

Recommended Audience: Domestic and sexual violence advocates, staff working with disability service organizations, educators, and parents with adolescents who have developmental disabilities.
