The Reno Problem Gambling Center (RPGC) is holding our First Annual Recovery Day Open House to launch our new Recovery Maintenance Program, bring the community inside to see our “boutique” non-profit, make 200 wellness kits for our homeless, and share the love we all have with our community partners through a fun day of scavenger hunting and enjoying Pink Tacos!
“The pandemic left me glad the casinos were closed, then scared when they reopened. I needed some support from my counselors before I might relapse,” said several of our RPGC clients affected by gambling disorder. Family members who attend outpatient counseling at RPGC told us, “we weren’t sure you could help us, as we couldn’t get there and had so many new challenges, and we need you.” The RPGC experts developed a “Recovery Maintenance Program” which we will launch June 17th and offer to former and new RPGC clients to help them before their issues become out of control. We are proud to share that since the pandemic, we boosted our telehealth services, which we quadrupled and continue to offer by Zoom sessions to all our clients. We’ll offer the Recovery Maintenance Program in-person or by Zoom, for six weeks, with a new booklet, tools, safety kit and contacts: just what our clients asked for.
We celebrate our Nevadans who have been in recovery through the pandemic, and we lift up and support those who continue to suffer. Emerging research shows increases in gambling across the globe in the past year, and we know there are some who haven’t yet developed a full-blown addiction. We want to help with a free assessment, a Recovery Maintenance Program, and lots of family help and connections. For our Open House, we want to celebrate all the good in uniting our community!
Save the date: Thursday, June 17th from 11:00 am (or earlier if you begin at Code Coffee!) until 3:00pm (or later if you stay for happy hour at the 1864 Tavern!) and join with Northern Nevada’s premiere boutique of outpatient therapy for people affected by Gambling Disorder, the Reno Problem Gambling Center, for their first annual Recovery Day Open House!
RPGC will be accepting hygiene items such as soap, washcloths, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, sunscreen and more up until the event on June 17th, when we plan to assemble 200+ wellness kits!
We have much gratitude for our community partners including Social Trust Media, the El Dorado and Caesars, the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling, and many local businesses who you’ll get to meet during our fun scavenger hunt! Come have Pink Tacos and enjoy our Open House!
