A Gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs someone may be contemplating suicide. This two-hour course provides an overview of suicide prevention in Nevada and your role.
The 2 1/2 hour Gatekeeper training increases one’s knowledge and understanding of suicide, to recognize warning signs, to identify risk and protective factors, and to increase willingness and ability to intervene with a person at risk for suicide. This training will provide insight for interacting with survivors and identify referral resources. Gatekeeper has been approved for Continuing Education Units by the Dept. of Education, POST, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Psychological Examiners, Social Workers, and SNHD. Nurses, CPC/MFTs, ADGCs may apply Social Workers CEUs toward their license requirements.
Gatekeeper-South is a 2 1/2 hour training with data specific to Southern Nevada. In the field of suicide prevention, a Gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs someone may be contemplating suicide.
