CASAT Learning

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) 5 is the standard classification of mental disorders used by mental health professionals in the United States. This training is a refresher for those who have had other training on DSM-5.  This course may also be appropriate for clinicians with limited experience who would like an overview of the manual.  It is essential that all clinicians become proficient in the use of this critical guide. A review of the recent text revision to DSM 5-TR will also be provided.

At the conclusion of the workshop participants will have a working knowledge of:
  • Comprehensive Screening and Assessment
  • Diagnostic Criteria and Descriptors
  • Subtypes and Specifiers
  • Principle Diagnosis
  • Provisional Diagnosis
  • Coding and Reporting Procedures
  • Highlights of Changes from DSM-IV to DSM-5
  • Overview of Disorders in the DSM-5 with a focus on Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders.
  • A review of the text revision, DSM-5-TR
